Paramount College of Technology delivers its courses and programs via online and e-learning methods by using a course management system called Paramount Virtual campus . PVC use the power of the internet to deliver on-line courses and classes that are independent of time and location and using PVC students can start or complete their courses on-line from virtually any place in the world. 

What you'll need:

  • A computer. Although Macintosh computers will work fine, virtually all computers at Paramount College of Technology are Windows computers. If your computer is fast enough for you, it's fast enough.

  • An Internet connection. Subscribe to a most popular Internet Service Provider in your country. If your Internet connection is fast enough for you, it's fast enough.

  • A web browser. You can use either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. If you use Internet Explorer, make sure you are using at least version 5.0. Version

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is free software available from the Internet that allows you to read "PDF" files. Some instructors may post information in PDF format on their course sites. You may already have this installed on your computer.

  • Microsoft Word. Your instructor will send you Word files and assume you can open, read, and print them. Your instructor might expect you to submit your homework assignments and longer papers as Word files.

  • PowerPoint. Some courses might require you to create and submit PowerPoint presentations as part of your course work. An instructor in any discipline might also send you a PowerPoint file to support a lecture or a reading.

  • Speakers/sound capability. Some courses make use of sound, either 'streamed' from a web site, or played from a CD ROM drive.

  • Real Player. This is also free software available from the Internet that allows you to listen to recorded lectures, which some instructors may make available. Of course, in addition to Real Player, your computer will also need sound capability.

  • CD ROM drive. Some courses will distribute course materials on CD ROM.

Depending on the course, you may need other software as well. For example, certain business courses might require the use of the Excel spreadsheet, or a computer-programming course might require the programming language software.
