The New Zealand College of Massage

The New Zealand College of Massage offers the most comprehensive range of training in massage and related body therapies available in New Zealand.

What allows us to make this claim?
  • 20 plus years experience in course delivery staff who work in the industry and who bring extensive clinical backgrounds
  • a base of academic research underlying courses
  • NZQA approval for all programmes, plus accreditation to deliver industry unit standards where applicable
  • our representation on Government bodies and industry groups
  • a very wide range of courses to suit all needs from interest levels for beginners to full professional training for a long term career
  • attention to professional ethics in all our programmes

We have chosen to specialise in massage and related therapies. This focus has allowed us to develop an excellent teaching team and our programmes have gained wide recognition. We have a reputation for quality of delivery and for the passionate way in which our staff approach their specialist subjects. We maintain small class sizes, despite trends to large classes in many tertiary institutions.  We pride ourselves on the quality of the practical experience that we offer and on the high standards that we set.

We get regular feedback from graduates who are working in Britain, USA, Australia, and Canada as to the excellence of the training they have received from us.  Our programmes are eclectic, but have been developed specifically for the New Zealand marketplace.

Research into massage in recent years has shown that there are clear benefits for health. Massage facilitates weight gain in pre-term infantsand speeds growth and development in normal term infants. It reduces stress hormonesin the body and alleviates depressive symptoms. A great deal of pain reduction is possible with massage and its associated therapies, and there are also clear indications that massage improves immune function.  Mental alertness is increased and people who receive massage on a regular basis have fewer health problems overall.
