American International School of JohannesburgThe American
International School of Johannesburg was founded in 1982. It began as a
small school in a residence in Rivonia. In 1985 the school moved to its
present 80-acre site in Diepsloot, a rural setting. American
International School of Johannesburg is an American-style school with 50
nationalities represented within its student body. The school year
follows a northern hemisphere model beginning in August and ending in
June. The International Baccalaureate programme is an option for the
last two years of secondary school. An ESL program is also provided for
students wishing to improve their English language skills. The American
High School diploma is awarded to successful students who complete grade
12. University entrance is virtually guaranteed to students who finish
with average or above average grades, and good SAT scores. All graduates
of American International School of Johannesburg go on to enter
universities and colleges. Field trips to sites of South African
culture, history, ecology and industry are integrated into the
curriculum, and a variety of after-school activities is offered at the
American International School of Johannesburg
