Elsen Academy is an independent school, registered as a non-profit organisation. It caters for children who underachieve in the larger school environments for whatever reason or who struggle in the mainstream education system because of learning barriers like weak reading, spelling, writing or maths skills, as well as concentration problems often caused by ADHD (attention deficit disorder). Children can receive full-time remedial tuition in small classes while following a regular school syllabus and in addition, supportive therapies like Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Remedial Therapy and Play Therapy are offered to learners during or after their school day. Classroom facilitators are also important members of the teaching staff. After-Care and Study Hall for the older learners, are also available to those needing homework supervision in the afternoons.
