St John's Pre-Preparatory School
Boys start Pre-Grade (Grade 0) at the beginning of the year in which they turn 6. They are encouraged to experiment with a wide selection of educational and creative equipment which includes indoor and outdoor experiences, the discovery of technology, books and freedom of fantasy play.
Curriculum
Classes are small in number, ensuring that pupils receive personal attention. The curriculum is wide and varied, encompassing foundation skills in Literacy, Numeracy and Life Orientation.The curriculum includes:
MUSICFun and enjoyment stressed to develop the musicality in each boy. A variety of musical instruments are introduced and lessons provided. DRAMAAssists in development of confidence, good speech, clarity of communication, imagination and free expression. DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGYThe programme encourages pupils to experiment with knowledge in an environment conducive to succeed. SPORTProvides each player with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including soccer, tennis, hockey, swimming and athletics. LIBRARY FACILITIESTo encourage respect and appreciation of books and reading not only for educational purposes but also for pure pleasure in this world of computer generated literature. COMPUTER LITERACYAn introduction to word processing and confidence in the general use of this technology. ARTAn opportunity to express themselves according to their own level of ability and to encourage creativity in drawing, painting and craft.
After Care
Situated in The Bridge Nursery School, our daily after care centre accepts pupils between four and ten years of age. Highly experienced Staff supervise homework after a light lunch, and refreshments. Recreational activities include cricket, soccer, art, etc. Holiday programmes are available.
