The development of a girls wholeness of personality - her shaping in stability and wisdom - is every bit as important to us as a sound academic education. Kingsmead's vision for every young woman doesn't end with Matric; we would like her to go out into the world having learnt what truth and beauty and justice are, so she can be confident and courageous, unafraid of anything that life may bring her way.
Our Smallness
Kingsmead is small enough to know and understand each and every pupil -and her parents. We could not do that if we were twice the size we are. Our classes are small. We have no desire to grow larger. We have no desire to be forced into a "one size fits all" approach to education.
Our Values
We are a Christian school. Our Founder, Miss D.V. Thompson, established values which are unique and special to Kingsmead, yet they are universal to all major religions and are central to all we undertake in our education. We practise the belief that no personality can be complete if spiritual values are ignored.
Our Teachers
Our teachers are here because they answer to a calling. For them, this is not just a job. They are dedicated to going the extra mile. They are well qualified and remain constantly up-to-date with the latest assessment techniques and requirements of the Independent Examination Board (IEB); many of whom are involved in setting exams, marking as well as moderating for the IEB. Their role is not simply the teaching of a curriculum, but the quickening of the desire to study, the training of every pupil's sense of self-disciple and responsibility.
