The school was founded in 1960 and is a non-profit-making foundation governed by a Board of Trustees. The school has a non-selective admissions policy and all students are given full access to the IB Diploma. The school is fully authorised to offer all three International Baccalaureate programmes (Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma), and the academic programme is designed to place emphasis on the individual potential of each child. The medium of instruction is English, but all children from Kindergarten onwards must take German. A third language (French or Spanish) is studied from grade 6. Easy transition is aimed at both to and from the home systems of the students. The average class size is 18. The student teacher ratio is 8: 1. All teachers are fully qualified and certified. The average faculty member has had eight years’ experience, and the average length of stay at the school is five years. The student body is 46% British or American, some 45 other nationalities are normally represented. Classes meet daily Monday to Friday between mid-August and late June. A wide variety of sports and extra-curricular activities is offered. The modern campus was completed in 2000 and contains 45 multi-purpose classrooms, an auditorium/gymnasium, a library and a specialist facility for grades 11 and 12. |
