ISZL believes that increased individual attention can really make a difference to student success, and this is reflected in the low teacher-student ratio, and small class sizes. ISZL offers one international experience on three age specific campuses: Zug Campus, Luzern Campus and Riverside Campus. On all of the three campuses, students from over 50 nationalities benefit from a truly international education with the support and encouragement of their teachers. The school follows the curriculum of the International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and at the senior level, a choice between the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or Advance Placement (AP) exams offered by the U. S. College Board. A special ESL (English as a second language) programme for non-native speakers is provided. The challenging academic programme is supplemented by sports, the arts, after-school clubs, trips, and community service opportunities. Students are encouraged to develop a life-long love of learning and commitment to the community. ISZL owns an Outdoor Education Centre in Wengen, in the Swiss alps. Chalet Bergheim offers the students numerous opportunities for class trips, winter sports, exploration and outdoor learning. Field trips are undertaken throughout the year, with special field trip weeks for students in Grade 3 and above. All students from Grade 2 to 8 learn to play a musical instrument as part of their regular class program. Technology is taught from Kindergarten onwards. Interactive whiteboards are available . ISZL graduates have an exceptional university acceptance record, and Individual College counselling starts in Grade 9. Overall, there are over seventy classrooms, four libraries, two gymnasiums, fully-equipped canteens with on campus cooking and dining rooms, extensive grounds and sports facilities. School is in session from late August to late June. All campuses are scenic locations which take full advantage of their local heritage. |
