Harrow KindergartenHarrow Kindergarten is set in a tranquil location in the heart of Bangkok, just of Sukhumvit Road. We use the British Foundation Stage and National Curriclum. All staff are native English speakers and fully qualified and experienced in their field. The campus has a dedicated soft play room; hard and grassed areas; swimming pool and specialist teacher rooms. We run on the British 3-Term per academic year system. At Harrow, we understand the importance of making learning for young children a rewarding and enjoyable experience in which they explore, investigate, discover, create and consolidate their developing knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes. We believe that effective education rests upon a partnership between home and school; one supporting the other for the benefit of the child.Harrow International School was established and gained its license to operate in Thailand in 1998. In association with Harrow School (London, UK) and under the patronage of Mr Daniel Chiu of Hong Kong, the school quickly grew to its current roll of 730. With twenty-three Thai princes having graduated from Harrow School (UK) since 1889, including Prince Mahidol, Father of His Majesty The King, tradition found contemporary expression in the establishment of Harrow International School in Bangkok, Thailand. Consistent with Harrow in England, Harrow International School
follows the British system of education. This is based on the English
National Curriculum and leads to qualifications in IGCSE, A/S and
'A' Level. Similarly, the school offers a comprehensive extra-curricular
and activities programme in which all students are involved. Students
work under the guidance of a personal Tutor who monitors their academic
and social development and takes them for PSE. The school maintains
a policy of recruiting high quality staff, predominantly British,
from posts both in the UK and from other international schools. Distinctively, Harrow International School is co-educational and
is available to students from Kindergarten to Year 13 (Upper Sixth
Form). The school is a diverse community with 24 nationalities represented
and strong participation from the host community of Thailand. Students study the core subjects of English, mathematics and science
and in addition, modern languages, Thai Language and Culture, information
and communications technology, computing, history, geography, music,
art, drama, business studies and physical education. From the age
of 9, students are taught in specialist classrooms. All students
are expected to be fluent in English and support within and alongside
the curriculum is available to EAL students. Having grown quickly at its present central-city site, Harrow International
School is moving into a new phase in its development with the construction
of its own purpose-built campus on 76 acres in close proximity to
the Bangkok International Airport. The school will relocate to the
new campus in September 2003 .The campus' spacious grounds will
include specialist science, library, technology, peforming and fine
arts, sporting and residential facilities. Harrow International School's educational scope is also expanding.
Already having established an associated language school (HILC),
and the agreement to offer the Foundation Programme for The Northern
Consortium of twelve British Universities, the school offers another
route through which students from Thailand and other countries in
the region can gain access to the best of British education.
