Study at International Hotel and TourismIndustry Management School Thailand
The International Hotel and
Tourism Industry Management School (I-TIM)
was founded by Colonel Somchai
Hiranyakit, the former Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand,
former chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association, former
Vice-Chairman of the World Tourism Organization, and former member of the
advisory board of the Faculty of Travel Industry Management, University of
Hawaii.
I-TIM was
authorized in 1988 by the Private Education Commission, Ministry of
Education, to offer training programs in hotel and tourism management.
I-TIM was
Thailand's first hotel and tourism industry management school to teach
in English. With a belief in
education as the means of fostering individual moral and intellectual
growth, I-TIM has
dedicated itself to educate and train students interested in the exciting
and challenging careers in hotel and tourism management. Our curriculum is
based on a combination of the Swiss system of service practice and the
American science of hospitality management. In 1992 I-TIM
was honoured to receive " The
Royal Best School Award "
from the Ministry of Education. I-TIM is
open to applications worldwide
with present and former students from America, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma,
Cambodia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, India,
Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sweden, Thailand, the
United Kingdom and Vietnam. To ensure courses remain
up to date, I-TIM maintains
strong links with various hotels, airlines, travel agencies, tour
operators and other tourism companies. I-TIM is
a member of SKAL International, Thai Hotels Association, Thailand
Incentive and Convention Association, The Council on Hotel, Restaurant and
Institutional Education, and has recently been admitted as an affiliate
member of the World Tourism Organization. I-TIM provides the following types of
programs: The
one-year certificate program aims to prepare students for entry into
career positions in either the hotel or the travel and tourism industry. The
two year diploma program is designed to provide students with theoretical
and practical knowledge and the skills necessary to function effectively in
junior to middle management positions in the hotel and travel and tourism
industry. The combination of practical skill training with theoretical
lessons in business and management should enable the graduate to accept
more responsible positions as he/she gains valuable work experience. To create an environment
suitable for learning and training, I-TIM
provides 25 air-conditioned theory
classrooms,
one language laboratory, one computer laboratory and one mock up hotel
front office. There is also one demonstration room used for teaching about
food preparation. Training rooms simulate a true hotel environment and include a Thai/European kitchen, a dining room, a housekeeping office and
a mock up hotel room. One library is provided for conducting research.
