International School, BangkokThe Bangkok International School is a private, non-sectarian, day school organized to provide an English-language academic program for the children of the international community in Bangkok. The school is governed by a twelve-member Board of Directors who are elected for two years by the parents.The curriculum is essentially North American in philosophy and
organization. Students may take PSAT, SAT, ACT, TOEFL tests. English-as-a-Second-Language
classes are available. Minimally Learning-Disabled students receive
instruction from qualified staff. The High School program emphasizes
college entrance preparation. The International Baccalaureate is
offered. Staff members at the International School Bangkok are fully qualified
and experienced. Many have advanced degrees. The average length
of service is four years. Students come from over 45 nations, with about 32% from the United
States, 15% from Thailand, 12% from Japan, and 7% from the United
Kingdom. Classes meet five days per week from 07: 30 until 14: 00. An extra
curricular program operates after school. The International School Bangkok is housed in new facilities in
a suburban area about 15 miles from downtown Bangkok. Facilities
include air-conditioned classrooms, four gymnasia, four playing
fields, seven computer laboratories, and two libraries. Bangkok International School is accredited by the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges.
