St. Andrews International School, Samakee CampusSt. Andrews Samakee opened in January 2000. The Samakee campus is located in the northern suburbs of Bangkok in a secluded soi five minutes from Nichada Thani. All young children have a right to the very best education and care and we achieve this through a UK-based curriculum that is delivered along child-centred principles. The school s child centred approach emphasizes learning experiences that are child initiated and teacher facilitated, enabling each child to achieve specific goals and objectives. In the classrooms, music room and art room the students follow a workshop approach and specific resources of a wide variety are stored in all workshop areas to support and promote children s autonomous behaviour. At St. Andrews Samakee the children have access to a stimulating learning environment both indoors and outdoors and we view the outdoor and indoor area as one learning environment. Our environment encourages the children to acquire knowledge by actively experiencing the world around them choosing, exploring, experimenting, manipulating, practicing and transforming. The school is set in a large mature garden with ample space for rich outdoor play activities, both physical and exploratory. The facilities include a large playing field, an enclosed play area for our youngest children, a covered sand pit, Thai play house and purpose built play equipment. Further site development is presently in progress and the new facilities will provide additional classrooms to be completed by December 2004.
