Uganda admin@ambrosolischool.com ambrosoli@ambrosolischool.com www.ambrosolischool.comAmbrosoli International School is a Pre-Primary and Primary day school
established in Kampala in 1989, occupying its current premises in Bugolobi
since 1991. Ambrosoli strives for excellence in education in an environment that treasures
and challenges each individual. Children can be enrolled throughout the year, according to availability.
Our Nursery class has a 4: 1 pupil/teacher ratio, Kindergarten a 6: 1 ratio
and Reception class a 8: 1 ratio. Other classes are small to give full
attention to each child. Our target class size is 16 pupils, and our maximum
class size is 20 students. CURRICULUM Ambrosoli follows the English National Curriculum incorporating the philosophy
and aims of the school. Subjects covered are English, Maths, Science,
History, Geography, Art & Design, Physical Education, Music, Swimming
and French. Computer Studies (ICT) and social development are integrated
into the syllabus. The children also learn about Ugandan customs and traditions.
We offer a wide range of after school clubs and we currently we host Italian,
Dutch, French and Swedish lessons for first language speakers. TEACHERS Ambrosoli teachers are chosen for their qualifications, experience and
commitment to the overall education of the children. We have an extremely
strong teaching and management team within the school and currently most
of our teachers have a background of multi-cultural and multi-lingual
situations. In each class we have teaching teams comprised of a class
teacher and assistant teacher/s. We also employ specialist teachers for
ICT, Music, French, ESOL, PE and Swimming. We run an ongoing in-service
training programme and support staff to improve and develop their skills
on a continual basis. SCHOOL COMMUNITY The school community is comprised of students, teachers and parents representing
over 40 nationalities. We have a growing number of Ugandan students and
over 30% of our students come from a dual nationality background. Our
school community is very positive, friendly and supportive. We have an
active PTA and each class has its own class parent representative. We
are the smallest international school in Kampala and enjoy an excellent
reputation in the wider community. COMMUNITY SERVICE Each year we support a variety of community projects and we have a team
of teachers who co-ordinate our community service links. Over the past
year our key project has been aimed at expertise sharing by providing
training in literacy teaching to local teachers and teacher trainers with
a focus on our closest Primary Teacher s College and local primary schools.
