School Introduction

Leicester Square School of English (LSSE) started in 1992, is Accredited by The British Council and a member of English UK.Over the last 17 years we have taught over 25 thousand students and become a very popular British Council Accredited English language school in central London.

If you want to study English in the centre of one of the most interesting and cosmopolitan cities in the world then we are the school you require. A large number of our students return again and again to enjoy London's vibrant life and continue their studies with us. You can be sure of a good quality course whilst being in the very centre of London.

Located in Leicester Square, the school is next to the world famous Odeon cinema, where many of the film premieres take place. This is an idyllic setting as we are in the very centre of London. Leicester Square is traffic free, surrounded by outside cafes and restaurants, where students, office workers and tourists sit to enjoy the atmosphere of musicians and street artists. Our EFL (English as a foreign Language) students come to enjoy central London and all of the fun and entertainment available on our doorstep.

ESL Program Introduction

Lessons

In all our lessons the teachers cater for the needs of their students. Extra material, including authentic materials are used to supplement the course book and to reflect the students' interests.Oral communication is emphasized and students are expected to speak English in class. All Language areas are covered including grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and the functional language students need to interact in English.

You can choose to study 15, 20, 25 or 30 lessons per week and all lessons are structured for 50 minutes.

The lessons at 9:00 - 9:50, 12:10 - 13:00, 17:10 - 18:00 concentrate on conversation, vocabulary and pronunciation skills.

The Lessons at 10:00 - 10:50, 11:00 - 11:50, 13:10 - 14:00, 14:10 - 15:00, 15:10 - 16:00, 16:10 - 17:00 concentrate on grammar, reading, writing, listening and lexis.


Course material


Students studying at the school for more than a week will have to buy a course book.

Students use a course book for the General English courses. The cost is £20 which is taken from the student on the first day. Longer term students choose whether to buy subsequent books from the school, get a second hand copy for £10, subject to availability, or purchase elsewhere.

Students must buy a course book at an extra cost for the IELTS preparation course.

Students who are studying for 5 or more hours per day will need to purchase the second course book.


Placement test

Class levels at LSSE

We do not offer classes at the beginner level. If you are unsure of your level of English please contact the school for further help.

Below are our classes and the approximate equivalent of The Common European framework (CEF) :

Elementary (A1/A2)
Pre intermediate (A2)
Intermediate (B1)
Upper intermediate (B2)
Advanced (C1)

The school uses a placement test to place students at the appropriate level. You will sit the test on or before your first day at the school.

Students applying under Tier 4 Students Visa will need to take our placement test before arrival. The result of your test will be clearly shown in your visa acceptance letter. Please do this test honestly as if we later discover that you are in fact a beginner you will be expected to pay for one to one classes.

Fees

Registration fee: £ 30 for most our courses.

Course fees are based on weekly basis example:
From 9:00-12:00 2week: 15 lessons £200
From 12:00-15:00 2weeks: 15 lessons £164
From 15:00-18:00 2 weeks: 15 lesson £222
