Bath Academy Language School
We believe that the success of our students in progressing to high
ranking universities is due to the high level of personal attention and
support that they receive during their studies at Bath Academy. Students are taught in small, supportive groups and given regular examination practice. Knowing what one has done well, what needs further work and what precise steps need to be taken to improve, are exactly what an apprenticeship in academic work requires. Young people learn by discussing their thoughts and ideas rather than just by taking notes. Teachers are participants in the discussion, guiding students in significant ways without lecturing. The personal influence of enthusiastic and experienced teachers, who know each student as an individual with their own strengths, challenges and interests, makes for a powerful learning experience in which young people are encouraged. Each individual student has a personal tutor who monitors their personal and academic progress, enabling immediate identification of any difficulties so effective intervention is timely. Parents receive written reports regularly throughout the academic year and the Principal and Personal Tutors are always available to meet with parents and carry out academic reviews. Personal Tutors also provide advice and support with applications to university to ensure that each individual applies to the courses and institutions most suited to them. This has resulted in a high percentage of successful applications to first choice universities.
