Study Chemical Engineering in the United KingdomAcademic Excellence In the recent HEFCE Quality Assessment Exercise, the Department was one of only two in the United Kingdom which were awarded the highest possible scores for teaching, learning and assessment and for the progression and achievement of students. In addition the Department of Chemical Engineering at Bath achieved the highest Grade 5 rating for all staff in the latest HEFCE Research Assessment Exercise. This means that in all of the main areas of chemical and biochemical engineering undergraduates are taught by members of teaching staff who are internationally and/or nationally recognised in their field. The Courses Our MEng Honours degree schemes are amongst the broadest based process engineering courses available to you and graduates can expect to have an exceptionally wide choice of future career opportunities. Our courses reflect modern concepts of engineering education and training, incorporating both communication and management skills together with a significant design element, all developed in close collaboration with industry. The degree schemes in the Department of Chemical Engineering share a common first two years of core science, mathematics and chemical engineering. Specialisation starts in the third and subsequent years of the course. This means that students do not need to commit themselves to a final decision about specialisation until the end of the second year, providing plenty of time for consultation and discussion, except for courses where students graduate with a language title in their degree. In such cases the decision to take languages must be made at the start of year one.
