The all-inclusive 2004 programme fee includes an English Language Course + youth hostel or home stay accommodation during studies + work placement + monitoring + cost of examination. With the possibility of gaining a valuable Work Experience Certificate, with dedication students would earn enough money to cover the cost of their fee.Minimum age: 18 Course start details: The 1st and 3rd Monday of each month (Every Monday during May-July) Course duration: up to 24 weeks ( 60 hours over the 2 week Introduction and Familiarization Course - Work Experience - 15 hours over 1 week Complete documentation for Cambridge examination) English Level: Intermediate and above Certification: Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Work Experience accredited by the Cambridge International Examination Board ( UCLES) Fee: 1450.00 + 50.00 Registration fee, payable upon the application. Benefits of the programme: Language Course: English Language course to improve all four linguistic skills at 15 hours per week morning lessons during first 4 weeks; 15 hours morning lessons during last 1 week of Course; Completing Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Work Experience files; course Certificate and Report issued on the last day of study. Note: For students completing their examination for the Work Experience Certificate this would not be available immediately but would be forwarded by the CIE Board to the school it would then be mailed it to the student. Work Experience: Hotels range from 2 to 4 stars and crowns, from large international hotels chains to small family operated guesthouses. National Minimum Wage gross payment is: 18 - 21-year-old - £.3.80 per hour; 22+ years-old £4.50 per hour. Trainees work up to 40 hours a week earning approximately £152.00 - £180.00 (gross) per week. Any overtime work is paid in addition. A shift system of work would be in operation with trainees normally receiving two days off per week not necessarily at the weekend. Each hotel has its own working arrangements and trainees must accept them. Please note: Hotel trainees will stay in the same hotel for the duration of the programme but with the ability to work unsupervised, show initiative and flexibility may enable them to progress to a more interesting and better paid positions within their hotel. Work Experience Certificate: The Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Work Experience is a very good tool for students who will make a carrier in the Hospitality Industries. It is well recognised by Hotels and Tourism businesses across the European Union and serves as a first-class reference to any employer as it provides strong evidence of applicant's workability. The file students have to complete and send to UCLES consists of 4 parts; each of them refers to different part of work. 1. Work. There are 4 questions in which applicant have to describe and reflect work experience. 2. Knowledge. There are 3 parts of this section. Applicant should describe what of his/her knowledge they had to use. What was new that they learned and describe Health and Safety conditions in their work placement. 3. Skills. 3 skills areas they have to write about: Communication Skills, Information & Technology Skills and Organisation Skills. 4. Achievement. The employer's section with reference to student completes the file. Example of the first week's time table
Positions available: Waiting Staff, Room Attendants, Bar Staff, Porters, Kitchen Porters, House Keepers and General Hotel Duties. Accommodation: Home stay with an English family while on the course. During work time, some hotels provide board and lodging in the hotel or staff housing, usually located near-by. Shared self-catering accommodation or Hostel would be an option. Medical and Travel Insurance: Prior to arrival in the United Kingdom students must ensure that they have adequate insurance cover for the duration of the programme. For obtaining medical services in the United Kingdom citizens of EU countries should bring with them the correct EU documentation (E-111 Form). Transfers: Students are responsible for the cost of all United Kingdom transfers from arrival point to school/place of accommodation and return to place of departure.
