Hellenic College of London
The Hellenic College was founded in 1980
by prominent members of the Greek community in London. The Hellenic
College of London provides a first-class British education to GCSE
standard, coupled with fluency in the Greek language, and a thorough
grounding in Greek culture, history, literature and religion. Children
from non-Greek-speaking families are also welcome and they are able to
follow an alternative modern foreign language, I.e. Spanish, Italian,
Russian, etc. The principal medium of instruction is English, with
English as a foreign language tuition available as required. The
Hellenic College of London offers an integrated academic programme based
on the UK national curriculum throughout the nursery, primary and
secondary departments.All teaching staff are experienced and
well-qualified, and the staff pupil ratio is 1:7.
The Hellenic College of London year
runs from September to early July, with holidays at Christmas and
Easter. Educational visits to Greece and other European countries
are planned every year.
The Hellenic College of London
occupies a fine site in the heart of Knightsbridge. Teaching
facilities include fifteen classrooms, three well-equipped science
laboratories, two computer science laboratories, music room and art
studio. There is a second Nursery facility in Golders Green (North
London) for children aged 3-5.
Admission is based on previous school
references, personal interviews and, for pupils above the age of
eight, entrance tests in English and Mathematics.
