Specialist English language provision is provided and plays a major role in the curriculum with almost all students going on to study at universities in Britain. The college, which has been listed by English Heritage for its architectural interest, is an impressive Victorian building set in 10 hectares of its own grounds. Great Britain has a reputation for the quality of its education. Saint Michael's continues in this tradition by offering intensive tuition by well-qualified teachers in small classes. The great variety of nationalities who study at the school provides a stimulating intellectual atmosphere for all. The school is coeducational and offers the choice of residential or host family accommodation in carefully selected local families. A varied and exciting sports and social programme, including excursions, sports teams and cultural activities, is also provided. Two new halls of residence have recently been constructed and opened in September 2013, they provide an extremely high quality accommodation for students, offering a 'home from home' environment with shared and individual bedrooms, common rooms and fully-equipped kitchens. During the evenings and weekends, the students have full use of these facilities and can also take advantage of many of the school's sports facilities. The students are closely supervised by friendly, approachable staff who are on hand 24 hours a day to offer close personal attention. On arrival students are allocated a member of the teaching staff as their personal tutor. It is the role of the tutor to ensure that each student settles into school, is happy, feels looked after and is given any help required on academic and non-academic matters. |
