All other applicants were offered places from the Russell group of Universities. Whilst offering a wide range of GCSE and A level options recent success has focussed on the Business and Engineering routes with Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, ICT and Business being the most popular choices. 75% of A level grades achieved in 2015 were A or A* grades making Lime House School the top ranked school in Cumbria.

The school operates a traditional English curriculum preparing students from the age of 4 to 18 for University entrance and the work place. All students are expected to take part in an extensive activity programme ranging from regular evening sports-based activities to others such as chess, dance, art, drama and science clubs. Most students aged 14 and above are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme allowing students to do voluntary charity work, expeditions in the Lake District, individual skills such a piano, guitar, chess etc; and a wide variety of recreational activities. In addition, students are expected to complete supervised homework activities every evening and there is regular GCSE and A level examination practice on Saturday mornings. Weekend activities vary from those organised on the main campus to visits to other parts of the UK for cultural, historic and recreational activities. Students are expected to take part in all activities.

The school occupies an historic family house dating back to 1698. There are Games, TV and Common Rooms with kitchen facilities being made available for snacks outside the main meals which are taken in a large dining room.

The school can accommodate 90 boarding students as well as 50 day students. Facilities include science laboratories, music, design, art, food, ICT and business rooms as well as a large sports hall and extensive Games fields. There is a small Junior School for pupils aged 3 to 11 with boarding from the age of eight. The school also has a Learning Support Unit for a small number of dyslexic pupils. Lime House is the only school in Cumbria with a CReSTeD DU category rating.

Day and boarding places are at a premium with about 30 becoming available each year. Some of these places are offered with scholarships for strong academic, musical or sporting performers. The school welcomes any student who has high expectations of themselves and whose desire is to move forward to some of the highest ranking Universities in the UK and around the World.
