A small school with only 250 pupils, Marymount offers a supportive, nurturing environment which prepares the students for life in a global setting. Part of an international network of schools, Marymount has an inclusive ethos which achieves a common purpose for young women from over 40 nationalities. In 1979 Marymount was the first girls' school in the UK to adopt the IB Diploma programme in the belief that it provides the most challenging and stimulating educational offering to the Sixth Former. The IB programme sets out to develop inquiring, critical minds, enabling pupils to become independent thinkers and 'active, lifelong learners'. In concert with Marymount's Catholic values the IB also sets out 'to develop caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect'. Graduates attest that they feel they have been stretched academically, spiritually and socially: they are fully prepared for university and for life. The School has a proud history of excellent academic results, consistently ranking within the top 5% of IB schools globally. Typically 20% of our graduates achieve more than 40 points (achieved by only 4% worldwide) and up to 40% graduate with a Bilingual Diploma. Although the largest single national group is British, additional languages taught include Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Korean and Mandarin for native speakers. In preparation for the IB, the school offers the Middle Years Programme: stretching students without the need for incessant testing. Set in a leafy campus close to the London South West postcodes, school buses cover routes from amongst others Sloane Square, South Kensington and Fulham. The School has a rolling admissions programme and students go on to top universities worldwide. |
