The
Sheffield College operates a successful federal structure of three
dynamic, independent colleges in the north, south and centre of the city
- each boasting excellent links to all major public transport routes and
in the heart of the communities they serve.
Opened in
2005, Hillsborough College in the north of Sheffield is a new, purpose
built, £27 million further education facility. It has been developed
using the very latest design techniques to create a stunning new
building with a strong emphasis on the student learning environment and
curriculum delivery.
Sheffield College, in the heart of the city, offers a wide range of vocational
courses designed to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers.
Sheffield College has a national and international reputation for providing
training excellence in many vocational areas.
The south
of Sheffield is served by Norton College and the Peaks Centre, which
successfully blends a wide range of courses with excellence in care and
support for its students. The winning teaching team is backed up by a
number of specialist support and guidance staff, ensuring that all
students? needs are met.
The

Sheffield
is a vibrant and welcoming city with a student community of more than
40, 000 - and it is widely recognised as one of the country's most
popular student destinations.
Many people
visiting Sheffield for the first time are amazed to discover that the
city is far different from the way they imagined it. It's a green city
built on seven hills and five river valleys, with spectacular views and
close to the beautiful Peak District.
For the
last two decades Sheffield has benefited from massive investment
programmes. The investments have regenerated and transformed Sheffield
to create a modern European city, with exhilarating entertainment, great
events and a unique mix of urban and rural attractions - all within very
easy reach.
Nestled in
the Peak District National Park, Sheffield prides itself on the beauty
and richness of its open spaces. As one of the greenest cities in
Europe, Sheffield offers many woodlands, parks, formal gardens, canal

Closer to
the city, Sheffield is rich with culture. The £17 million Millennium
Galleries host exhibitions from national galleries and museums,
including the Tate Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Right next
door to the Galleries is the multi award-winning Winter Garden, one of
the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the United Kingdom during the last
hundred years. This, along with the Peace Gardens, form part of the
city's 'Heart of the City' project - a £120 million scheme to regenerate
Sheffield's city centre.

A
supportive and active environment
The student
community at The Sheffield College thrives in a friendly, supportive and
welcoming environment.
There are
great facilities at each College including state-of-the-art Learning
Resource Centres, fully equipped Fitness Centres and refectories serving
a wide range of dietary requirements.
Each of the
three main Colleges - and some of the neighbourhood centres has a
nursery service where children receive an excellent standard of care in
a positive learning environment.
Every full
time student is entitled to a co-ordinated programme of careers,
education and to help them gain the knowledge and skills to make
informed decisions about the future.
Extensive
amenities for worship exist across the city. Within the College, there
are facilities for Christian and Islamic prayer and worship.
The Student
Enrichment Programme is a great way for students to get involved in a
range of activities that will help them keep fit and reach their full
potential.
Training
for a career
The
Sheffield College offers a huge choice of vocation-based courses
designed to suit every ambition and level of ability, available on a
part-time and full-time basis.
Sheffield College's unique ?routes to careers? method involves close consultation
with employers to find out exactly what they need in an employee and a
course is then designed to meet those requirements.
The
College's expertise in delivering vocational programmes is further
strengthened by the creation of a number of dedicated Centres of
Vocation Excellence (CoVEs). The Cove programme is a Learning and Skills
Council (LSC) initiative designed to improve and deliver vocational
skills vital to the economy.

With over
forty subjects at GCSE and 'A' level - as well as Access and Higher
Education programmes, HNDs and foundation courses -The Sheffield College
has a successful track record in preparing students to meet the goals of
their academic ambition.

From regular student exchanges through
to major business consultancies, The Sheffield College's international
links are an exciting and highly valued part of its work. Every year,
hundreds of students from over 80 countries come to the College to learn
