Southbank International School - Hampstead CampusSouthbank International School was founded in 1979 by a group of educators in order to provide a challenging academic environment for students from around the world, aged 3 to 19. There are three campuses. The Hampstead campus serves the age range 3 to 11. Students receive tuition through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and transfer to the Westminster campus at age 11. Southbank uses London as a classroom – taking full advantage of the cultural riches of the city. The campuses have students representing 73 nationalities, and the school is noted for its friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Southbank was the first UK school to offer the International Baccalaureate curriculum to students of all ages. The IB PYP is inquiry-based and uses a cross-curricular approach. It includes the core subjects as well as Spanish, IT, art, music and Suzuki violin/cello. In the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) offered at the Westminster campus, French and design technology are added to the core subjects begun in the Primary. The emphasis is on skills development and students are prepared for the High School and the IB Diploma Programme (16-18/19 years). Southbank Hampstead is housed in a purpose-built building with a library, an IT centre, art and music rooms, a multi-purpose hall, and a playground. The door-to-door bus service covers a wide area of central and north London. English is the language of instruction, but English as an Additional Language (EAL) is also offered throughout the school. Southbank attracts well-qualified and internationally experienced teachers. Admission is based on previous school records and satisfactory references, as well as suitability of the candidate for the curriculum offered. 16 Netherhall Gardens, London, NW3 5TH, UK Tel: (+44) 20 7243 3803 Fax: (+44) 20 7727 3290 Email: admissions@southbank.org Web site: www.southbank.org ADMINISTRATION: Head of School - Graham Lacey Hampstead Principal - Shirley Harwood Assistant Principal - Stuart Bain PYP Coordinator - Charlotte Gregson FACULTY: Full time: 3 men, 20 women Part time: 3 men, 10 women Nationalities: 12 CURRICULUM AND EXAMS: Curriculum: International, PYP, Exams: ENROLMENT: Age Range: 3-11 Total Enrolment: 210 Nationalities: 41 99 boys, 111 girls Primary School (N-5): 205 FEES: Day only: £ 13200-£ 20550 Other Fees: Development fee (once) (1st year) £1,300; Development fee (subsequent yrs) £300 |
