Warnborough Intensive School of English
(WISE)
British Council Accreditation Achieved
We are pleased to announce that
Warnborough Intensive School of
English (WISE)
has just been
notified that it has achieved British Council Accreditation.
Achieving
British Council accreditation confirms the quality of what we offer
through WISE. It is good for Warnborough and all its stakeholders. It
identifies Warnborough as a quality provider that has met high standards
in management, resources, premises, teaching and welfare. The
application for British Council accreditation was meticulously managed
by Mr. Rob King, the WISE Director of Studies. He said, “our aim is
to provide individual or small group teaching where students are able to
improve their level of English improves rapidly.”
WISE offers courses
year-round with special options during Easter, Summer and Christmas
holidays. General English, English for Special Purposes (such as
Academic English), University Foundation Skills and IELTS are available
with a new intake every Monday. A two week certificate course for
Professional Development for Teachers of English is held thought the
year in Canterbury.
WISE will be making use of
the excellent services offered by the British Council (www.britishcouncil.org)
English UK (www.englishuk.com),
and Education UK (www.educationuk.org).
This includes special events, workshops, exhibitions and fairs held in
the UK and abroad. Also, overseas offices provide an information service
for local students, and stock brochures and other literature about study
in the UK at accredited colleges. As Dr. Daryl Tempest-Mogg, the
Director of Wise, stated, “English improves lives and is the passport
to greater things. It enables students to cross boundaries and widen
their horizons”.
The British
Council is incorporated by Royal Charter (granted in 1940). The Queen is
its patron and HRH the Prince of Wales is its vice-patron. The British
Council is subject to oversight from the Privy Council. It has a budget
of £706 million and 200 offices in more than 100 countries around the
world. Its mission is to:
‘promote
abroad a wider appreciation of British culture and civilisation [by]
encouraging cultural, educational and other interchanges between the
United Kingdom and elsewhere’.
As special thanks is due to
everyone who helped to make our application and inspection a success -
Rob King, Dr. Julian Ng, Gill Cotton, Mihaela Foxley, Jeffrey Ng and
Maple Lam.
WISE will appear on the ELT list of providers within
one week.
