School Introduction Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette offers free English classes to nonnative-English-speaking community members of Portland, Oregon. The school is conveniently located near downtown Portland. The GICW community program was established in 2000. It currently serves approximately 65 students.
ESL Program Introduction
Goodwill's community ESL program offers three levels of instruction: Literacy level A; Beginning level B; Intermediate level C. Students can choose to study either 3 or 6 hours a week. Classes are free, but students are encouraged (but not required) to buy the class textbook, which costs about $15.00 U.S. Each instructor is highly qualified, with a master's degree in applied linguistics, a teaching certificate for adult instruction, and several years of experience teaching in the U.S. and abroad.

Schedule & Fees
Enrollment is open. Class size is limited to 25 students. When classes are full, prospective students are placed on a waiting list. Class sessions generally run 20 weeks with the next session starting the following week. There is a one-week break during Christmas and New Years.
There is no tuition charge, there is no application fee, and there is no placement fee.
