ESL Program Introduction
The Intensive English Program (IEP) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is a competitive program (only 30 seats are available each session) that is designed for academic preparation. Founded on principles of communicative language teaching, the integrated curriculum focuses on improvement in oral and written academic English. Additional attention to interlanguage pragmatics, grammar and pronunciation insures progress in both fluency and accuracy, with special attention paid to real-world interaction in a U.S. university context.
The program is open to students who have already graduated from high school and have achieved high beginning status in English.
