School Introduction Georgia State University is an urban university in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. It is the largest university in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Georgia State has a total enrollment of more than 25, 000 students from all 50 states and 117 countries. The univer¬sity offers 52 undergraduate and graduate degree pro¬grams with more than 200 majors. There are five colleges in the university: Arts and Sci¬ences, Business Administra¬tion, Education, Health Sci¬ences, and Law-plus the School of Policy Studies.
ESL Program Introduction
The IEP offers academic English courses from basic to advanced levels of proficiency. The lowest level is for students who possess a basic knowl¬edge of English. The highest level is for students who are almost ready to begin their degree study. In some cases, students who have been accepted to a degree program at Georgia State may combine upper-level English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and regular academic course work.
