Belmont University was established in 1890 as the Belmont College. After several name and status changes, it given its present name in 1991. The campus of over 70 acres is located in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, it also has a regional campus in Franklin and national campuses in Los Angeles, California and in New York City, New York. Belmont competes in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. Their sports teams are known as the Bruins and their mascot is named Bruiser the Bruin.
